Job Description:
LABORATORY TECHNICIAN - MICROBIOLOGY - RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The person in this position:

·         Will work with an intermediate degree of supervision and detailed procedures.

·         Is responsible for performing routine less complex, moderately complex and occasionally highly complex assays in the Microbiology Lab.

·         Is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Quality System Standards.

·         Initiates and participates in Corrective Action Requests, Method Validation Projects, and Continuous Improvement Projects.

·         Must perform all activities in a safe, accurate and efficient manner. 

·         Performs other duties as assigned, including responsibilities in other areas of Research and Development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required
·         Successful completion of 1-2 years post-secondary education in a lab based, scientific discipline and 1-2 years of laboratory experience.
·         Basic lab skills including aseptic technique, quantitative and qualitative analysis.
·         Strong math skills.
·         Good computer skills including Lotus Notes, Excel, Word, LIMS or equivalents.
·         Capable of independent and group work with a continuing interest in the scientific area.
·         Good communication skills.
·         Must be capable of standing for extended periods of time, handle strong odors and may, on occasion, have to lift up to 50 lbs.

Preferred
  • BA/BS in a scientific discipline with lab experience.
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Quality Systems and Root Cause Analyses skills.
  • Limited attributable Corrective Action.
