Job Description:
A humanitarian nonprofit organization in Manhattan is seeking a Major Gifts Officer to report to the regional Chief Development Officer, Sr Gift Officer/ Sr. Director and be responsible for meeting annual revenue through assigned portfolio of donors and prospects for the organization. This is a full-time/ long term temp opportunity paying an initial rate of approximately $31/hr. A position description is below:"
Responsibilities:
Develop ongoing relationship with major donors.
Manage 100-200 donors and prospects.
Responsible for annual fundraising goal.
Implement programs/ activities that help maximize revenue driven by donors.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle:
- Initiate contacts with potential leadership and major gift donors
- Develop appropriate cultivation strategies for them, including working with volunteers
- Move potential donors in an appropriate and timely fashion toward solicitation and closure
- Make solicitations when appropriate
- Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflect optimistic and positive attitude, and convey sensitivity to needs of the donors
Must be a highly energetic professional with a track record of building donor relationships and closing gifts in the six-figure range.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required.
5 to 10 years of related experience.
Ability to multitask with excellent verbal and written skills.
Knowledge of office systems: MS-Office and fundraising database systems.
A highly committed team player.
Bachelor's Degree, Masters preferred
Five to seven years successful experience in major or planned gift fundraising preferably in higher education
Ability to understand the needs and interests of leadership and major gift donors in order to develop relationships
Demonstrated leadership and the ability to successfully manage multi-functional or diverse areas.
Successful experience in making cold calls as well as developing cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Must have excellent interpersonal skills and a demonstrated record of completing assignments
