POSITION: Product Copywriter – Web Intern
REPORTS TO: VP Merchandising
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
DATE: 8/13/12
PURPOSE:
To gain educational knowledge in Web copywriting by writing compelling headline and descriptive product copy for 4imprint’s US & Canadian websites"
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Write compelling and accurate headline and descriptive copy for new products on web
- Do so in 4imprints’ voice and copy style
- Use Product Maintenance (proprietary software), physical samples and vendor catalogs to gather product data to write copy
- Work effectively within IM, Art & Merchandising teams focused on setting up new products
- Work with merchandisers to ensure copy conveys key features and benefits
- Improve copy on existing products on web
- Input copy into Product Maintenance system ensuring it displays appropriately on websites
- Assist with sample storage organization
KEY COMPETENCIES
- Impeccable mistake-free grammar and spelling skills
- Ability to write short snappy headlines and product copy
- Be comfortable working independently for much of the time
- Have a strong interest in websites, copy and search engines
- Keen interest in product trends and ability to apply this to 4imprint web copy
EDUCATION/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Student currently pursuing a degree in English, Marketing, Communications, or related degree
- Previous college-level copywriting and/or English courses required
- Willingness to receive guidance and direction from internal and external resources
- Proven effective interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Word and Excel) and Windows
- Be able to lift and transport samples from location to location (up to 10-20 pounds)
